$1,840,000 Recovered for Injured Truck Driver

Terry & Thweatt, P.C. attorney Joe Terry recovered $1,840,000 on behalf of a truck driver that was injured when sitting in a metal folding chair waiting for his tanker truck to be unloaded at a Houston chemical plant.  The truck driver had to undergo several surgeries that resulted in him not being able to drive a truck again.  Engineering experts were hired to inspect and run tests on exemplar chairs.  The experts concluded that the chair at issue collapsed due to manufacturing and design defects as well as a lack of maintenance and inspection.  Suit was brought against the foreign chair manufacturer as well as local distributor, seller and premises owner.  After a multitude of depositions were taken and multiple mediations conducted, Terry & Thweatt were able to settle the case for $1,840,000 prior to trial for a favorable sum that will take care of our client’s future needs.  Attorney fees and expenses totaled $787,602.51.
